Just watched some night windsurfing on RS Ones in Singapore, which unfortunately was a bit of a fail, particulary given the profile of the event! At least the commentator made good humuor of it for the crowd.
The concept sounded good, led lit sails racing around a few bouys following a day of extreme 40 racing. Wind was ok at 8-12 knots, full moon, and there was even some planning...just...for a few moments, however, 1.5 hours late to start against the scheduled time, 4 boards hovering in one position for 5 minutes prior to the start, 2 x 3 minute races with only one upwind and one downwind, dimly lit sails (to be fair, Singapore is pretty bright at night) with some of the batteries failing half way through let the show down. Brighter lights and a better starting/racing format and organisation might actually make this a little more interesting.
Picture shows the battery pack downt the bottom, and blue led cords sewn into the batterns and luff and leach seams.
