Doqo's first attempt...
So, with measuring stick in one hand and a hammer in the other, it begins.....

The wooden thingamajig is a piece of Tassie Oak I shaped down with a draw knife and turned on my small metal lathe (with vacuum cleaner going full tilt). It's a temporary "steel tube to fibreglass mast" adaptor. I need to do some more research on finding a suitable steel tube to fit the mast I've acquired.

The bicycle front end is a maybe. I think the Lake Lefroy Mini steering assembly is the way I'll probably go. (Thanks landyacht for posting the build info.)

mast mount....
hello people,im new to this and the forum so a big hello from not so sunny england lol.
i have a question regarding the mast support,i know the mast should be able to rotate but wouldnt the tube rub and wear the mast and cause it to fail? i see in the construction plans that people are using non seemless tube? surely the seam will aid in trashing the mast? what other ways are there to allow the mast to rotate but not rub in the tube? best regards, greenE.

mast and mast step
i've nearly come to the last step in the llm build and would like to see how others protect the base of the carbon mast from being shredded/gouged from the seam inside the mast step. some yachts i've seen seem to have gaffer tape around the outside of the carbon mast at the base and then seem to have a rubber boot/spat? over the top of the mast step itself(maybe to keep salt/sand out of the mast step?). very sorry for inept questions but i see a stupid question is safer than making a stupid mistake. cheers in advance yet again
