McTavish Involvement Model - Review, again!
Can't recall doing a review on this board but...
I was getting ready to sell it some time back...
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Surfing/Longboarding/McTavish-Involvement/

Glad I didn't, because I have had an absolute ball on this thing, this summer...
So much so, that I will spend some time on it in Autumn, in bigger stuff.

The Involvement Model - Brief Review;
These boards are for enthusiast, not learners... Pinched, low volume rails, reducing the overall volume a little bit...
They are 'hot-dog' boards from the late '60's, re-produced, often/usually by hand, by Bob McTavish (circa 2010 onwards for to replicas).

Yes, they are harder to ride than modern 3 fin Longboards, and don't get up to speed as easily...
But once you have them up to speed, and trimming, they sure are fun!
Designed to be ridden in the pocket... in the curl... And this board loves it, when ridden there!
More challenging to ride, compared to current modern designs, with hard rails, etc.
But also more rewarding... Addictive, when you dedicate the time and effort...

I would say you should be at least an intermediate modern rider, before tackling this style of board. It helps if you can already walk the board, bottom turn, and already know how to stuff a big board into the pocket of a wave...

Such a fun board... Chrispy, I wish I bought your old South Coast Board, which I rode in Qld!

McTavish - Involvement
This beautiful board is for sale.
$1,050. No negotiation. I'm happy to keep it.
Condition is 99/100. Absolutely flawless. Minus 1 for wax, and the fact it has been ridden a handful of times.
Greenough glass on 10 inch fin. Volon glass. Glass leggie loop, not new school plug!
Converging stringers....
If my wife would allow it, the board would be pride of place in the corner of the lounge room, on a stand ! - Wall hanger -
9'4 x 22"1/2 x 3.

MP at Bells riding my board...

OK, maybe not !

2nd hand McTavish
I am looking at buying a 2nd hand 9' McTavish board at one of the local surf shops and want to get some opinions on this. I am not sure of the model , but it is an epoxy board.

I weigh around 75kg soaking wet and am pretty well still at the learning stage. I already have a 6'8 XL Super Fish so I am looking at a longboard so that I can get more time on the water.

Any advice etc would be appreciated.
