Day 2 (Friday) was of mixed fortunes with a number of heats run and some great riding by all. We had one course race with a challenging upwind leg that everyone tackled well.

In the afternoon the whole Sail Melbourne contingent was surprised by a 35-40 knot squall that hit with terrifying force during the middle of a heat. Luckily no one was seriously injured and everyone responded well to secure all the kites and get everyone to shore safely. Unfortunately this put a hold on the event but we got back underway in the afternoon with a couple more heats.

At this stage we are on track to finish the single elimination draw on Saturday morning. Remember that you can still register until the double elimination draw begins so come down to Hampton Beach and register to be in the race to win some great prizes.

Saturday will also see a double points course race and the spectacle of the KiterX take centre stage. Remember that Saturday is also family day at Sail Melbourne with plenty of activities to try.

KBV in conjunction with GoKite and SHQ are providing free introductory sessions to Kiteboarding at Sandy Beach just next to the Sandringham Yacht Club. So if you have family or friends that have always wanted to try Kiteboarding then get them down to learn all about it.
