Kitesurfing in Torres Strait
We have a Torres Strait Islander owned resort in Torres Strait called Poruma Island Resort. See www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=poruma&e=com

A Kitesurfer recently enquired about the wind and sea conditions around Poruma. He said that some of the best kitesurfing is when there are strong winds over low islands and coral cays with smooth water on the lee side of the cay. For 9 months of the year (during the south easterlies) this is our typical weather pattern.

Poruma Island is also known as Coconut Island and there is a BOM weather station on the island that you can access that will give you weather for the past few decades.

You can access it here:

I am interested in getting some feedback on how interested kitesurfers would be in this destination. It is expensive to get here and it is expensive to build infrastructure and operate a remote resort like this so the accom is expensive as well .... however for those who make the journey and are looking for this type of unique experience, they love it. We just haven't had any kitesurfers yet.

Interested in some feedback please.
