Matt, your email bounces so I will reply to u here. Don't worry I will call it when we have a decent swell with offshore winds. I didn't call it for Friday and the weekend as we weren't gonna have a decent swell and offshore winds. Sure some of the other websites on the net called it for Friday and the weekend, but go down and have a look for yourself and tell me what you see (or just read the report below). And in regards to questioning my experience simple reply in point form: 1). No I don't have any academic qualifications in regards to weather and oceanography, what I have is years of experience of growing up here on the west coast and scrutinizing our weather and surf patterns. 2). I was born, bred and surf here in WA. 3). The long range forecast that I sometimes prepare not only for you, but in the past some of the large surfing events have had an 89% (average) of being spot on. 4). We are not in bed with any major organistions or associations or companies. 5). If you don't like the site rack off and have a look at the other sites on the net, I had first hand instance of observing how one surf reporter done his reports at the Masters last year, where he looked at the swell bouys then the winds current winds off the bom site and did his reports (very inaccurate). Some of the wind speed and direction do not give an accurate reading of where the surf is and neither do the buoys. 5). The dramas with updating the site sometimes is my fault as I sometimes do it with an iphone and it doesn't update it straight away and sometimes never because the stupid thing is roaming on another network. 6). I have never ripped the reports off other sites as a matter of fact it's the other way around as sometimes you will see words that I have used like "frothing, straight handers etc, etc, etc. I have confronted one individual site owner in regards to this, what you see in the reports is copyright and classed as a literary work of art, if crew are ripping it, then they are breaking the law of copyright. 6). When have I ever mentioned a semi secret location or slapped photos up and named a said location. I sometimes surf there along with the locals and do not want to create any friction between myself or them, hence is why only well know surf locations that are already crowded to the max are named. 7). Winter reports are done later because it is still dark at 6:30am in the morning you salami. Sure some of the other sites may have them up at that time in the morning, maybe they use infared binoculars or have access to twelve 80,000 watt spot lights to light up the surf with and give you the report, but what I think it is, is that they have a deal with one of the telcos to provide the reports by then. 8). This is a non profit site, i don't make thousands of dollars out of it. 8). I reiterate again if you don't like the site then P%ss off and use another one. Thanks for your time cheers Marz .
