I checked under my boat on Saturday, to find it covered in barnacles, she was slipped and painted with Micron 66 last August. I was a little disappointed at the amount of barnacle growth. Google search has come up with a study from Sweden, the aim is to find a coating that is kind on the ocean, but effective against barnacles. LEAF stands for Low Emission AF. I realise there a lots of snake oil claims, but this looks interesting non the less. The low emission part of the product is the nasty chemical that resists barnacles stays in the paint substrate, so when the barnacle latches on to the paint and digs in, it quickly decides the surface is not to its liking.
I can't find any listing for this product here in Aus. Has anyone else seen anything on this subject?
Oh the active ingredient is Invermican.
