RQYS Windsurfing 2017/18 (Learning, Social/Recreational, Racing)
Today was the official opening of the RQYS Sailing Season and the windsurfing activities and facilities are bigger and better as windsurfing continues to grow within the Squadron.

Learn to Windsurf
Learn to windsurf courses are scheduled to continue throughout the season. This year the Academy will be offering Level 1 and Level 2 courses. Courses entail 5 x 3 hours sessions run for 5 weeks on Saturday mornings or 5 straight days during school holidays. See link below for details

Team Windsurfing
This very popular program will continue this season. Run by volunteers and at no cost to members these sessions take place every Saturday morning from 9.00 - 12.00.

This program is all about providing a place for "graduates" of the ltw course's to continue on their windsurfing journey. With an instructor and safety boat on hand to offer advice or assistance this is all about making friends and enjoying this great sport while improving in a safe and social environment. Some club gear is available for use however it's limited and based on a first in best dressed basis so participants are encouraged to byo gear. Participants are required to have completed a level 1 ltw course or have equivalent experience and be able to rig and launch independently.

Team Windsurfing has been very popular in past seasons, participants can come and go as they please, they can join in or not any organised activity that may be happening, they make friends, learn lots, improve skills and fitness and have fun, Free to members and non members can take part by obtaining a daily membership pass.

Make Saturday morning your windsurfing time

Green Fleet
RQYS has a Club Windsurfing Coach who offers a more racing focused training program for those interested in the competitive aspects of windsurfing. The Green Fleet is about improving racing skills, fitness and tactics. Details of when and where can be obtained by contacting the Sailing Academy. Often the National RSX Olympic Coach takes these sessions so the quality of instruction is at Olympic standards.

Races are windward leeward courses and classes raced include Techno293 (juniors), RSX (Olympic), Raceboard, and Formula. Other course racing classes such as wallies or foils are welcome.
