IMO if they really want to alienate, govern by themselves it shouldn't stop there.

Next step could be independence for Scotland and Ireland, and for other colonies like Australia and New Zealand cutting last remaining umbilical cord and become republics too.

Then there will be no longer United Kingdom just miserable England, mediocre sized state that lost the last imperial shine.

Next thing that those English separatist may want to do could be flooding and sinking Euro Channel , no longer needed and definitely prevent that awful migrants from crawling from Europe.
