"Why don't you buy a gun, dad?"

"Because you would probably find it and play with it."

"But you could put it somewhere really safe, like up really high on top of the cupboard."

"And wouldn't you be interested in it?"

"...er."

"Wouldn't you find the Forbidden Closet of Mystery really interesting?"

"Yeah."

"So you'd probably go and look for the gun if I wasn't home?"

[smiles] "Yeah."

"And if there were bullets would you put them in, just to see what they were like and how it worked?"

"...errrr"

"Yes?

"...er."

"But not definitely no?"

"I might."

"And then you could put the bullets in and perhaps accidentally shoot your sister? See this is why I don't want a gun. Besides if somebody broke into our house while we were home I'd help him take all this old stuff."

"What can you shoot with a gun that is safe to shoot?" [looks around the room]
