There goes the beacon for our Illawarra coastal runs. We'll be lost without it. I've put it in heavy weather because it was 10,600 tonnes and 198 metres high. I watched it from just outside the 300 metre exclusion zone. A good demonstration of some basic physics, ( I'm into physics ). Not the biggest of demolitions to hit these pages but the thump from the explosives and the ground shake as it hit the deck really were something. Here's the view from a distant beach. The video cuts out before the second thump but it gives an idea of the sort of charge you need to bring something this big down.
