Loose carbon boom

I am running with the idea of some rod in metal filled epoxy putty, rip it out and then the holes may need to be slightly enlarged





Has anyone done this (should have asked before hahaha) and does it work? Or is the looseness also affected by the wearing down of the actual extension tubes? That looks minimal but should I also build them up? A coat of resin would be so thin I think it would flake off, maybe just a wrap around of electrical tape in a couple of places and replace it now and then? (It wont be used a lot)
