Thought we might do some time trials in some trying condition to test the Fanatic 12.6 carbon against the Naish 17.
Test Pilots Simmondo 85kg and Kristi 43kg Phill 115kg
Location Little Noosa Barwon River
Conditions: 25 - 30kn head wind on the way out reverse
on the way back in 400m pylon run.
We we fully expected the Naish 17 to kick butt big time but we were totally blown away.
In repeated tests on the 400 m Pylon run the total time diference between the 2 boards was between 1- 3 secons in the favor of the naish but the nasih was 4.5 ft longer.
We paddled the board with a 43kg rider an 85kg rider and a 115kg rider and even in the heavy wind it was extremely stable.
The board even with 115kg on it could easily catch 6 inch runners
I have trialed 5 different 12.6 boards and this is the only one I have been able to paddle comfortably at my weight.
I did find in the cross wind you really need to get back on the tail to straighten her up but that was the only vice I have found at this stage.
Due to the large dihedral on the nose its hard to load on the racks without damaging the board and you may not get 2 side by side on the roof.
If you get an opportunity to trial this board do it and make up your own mind.
In our opinion SMOKIN!
Phill
Disclaimer: We bought the board after significant research for BOP style racing.
