Planning a family holiday to Victor Harbour over Christmas / New Years, and wondering if it is safe to paddle on the coastal waters off Victor Harbour?

Was mainly thinking flatwater paddling around near the footbridge and Granite Island.

Has anyone heard of any dangers? I know theres the inland waters arounf Hindmarsh islad which are presumably safer, but we are staying right on the beach near Granite Island.
