Wind Foiling my fourth time
Strong 5 to 25kt westerly today, so what better time than to try foiling again!
Actually spent most of my time on my 90L slalom board, but as the wind faded in the afternoon, I kept my 7.0 rigged and setup my Foil
Today I tried a few different settings on the Slingshot.
1. NO WASHER NEEDED! I found that at speed the foiled behaved very erratically, so I removed it. Behaved much more predictably after that! So adding up trim to the rear wing is not helpful, except when learning at slow speeds.
2. I rotated the switch-fuselage to test the front foil more forward... fail. Lift was harder to control
3. The best for last.... today I sailed with only 1 foot in a footstrap. Wait for it.... the BACK foot! Much easier to trim the board with the extra leverage from having my front foot ahead of the footstrap. With the front foil aft, close to the foil-mast, I found it comfortable with my front foot close to the front strap. When I rotated the switch-fuselage, I had to stand well forward, half way between the front strap and sail mast. I'll be rotating back aft next time out!
Getting more stable now... I might make it to the formula and foil boarding race next week! What do you think my chances are?
Cheers, Berowne
