US772 mast step
Just purchased a 6.5 sail & 520 mast from sail works for my big boat, have a few questions about your mast step. My original set up,
my mast slide down inside my mast step 14" and had a collar at that point. The bttm of the mast rested on a plug inside the tube and fit inside the bttm of the mast. John, I need to know how your rigging your mast step on your small boats as I am thinking about doing the same on my big boat. Help wanted as going to ivanpah late Oct..

Thanks Windcrazy

Dynamic downhaul for windsurfing sails
I have 8 windsurfing sails and no sewing machine. My sailmaker is away on holidays and I want to try out the pig. Most of the comments regarding use of uncut windsurfing sails is that it like having only one gear. I hooked up my windsurfing sail to the new mini and rigged a downhaul system that allows the sail to be downhauled to the right amount, without sheeting in. When I sheet in, the amount of downhaul is increased. This flattens the sail when sheeting in.

I think this will allow me to maximize the design of the sail.

Photos when it stops raining.

here is how it is rigged.

The cleat is on the mast. The blocks are attached to the boom and the yacht frame. When rigging, the block for the main sheet locks one end of the line. The other end is pulled until the downhaul is enough to move the battens to the middle of the mast then locked by the cleat. When sheeting in the 4:1 mechanical advantage downhauls the sail.

Your comments please.
