A Redcliffe bloke in Maui

My first trip to Maui for the Northern hemisphere summer. Redcliffe doesn't really prepare you for this.
The wind starts at about 8.30am and cranks 25-30 knots crosshore every day. Absolutely unrelenting. About a 1 km tack across a lagoon to the reefs where there are a dozen or so windsurfers ripping a three foot windswell.
Have been mostly overpowered on a 4.2 or 4.7 sail - I swapped down to a 370 mast to try and soften the load. Riding a 78L Naish global wave but could go a tad smaller.
A patch of grass in the back yard to rig up and a 10 metre walk to the beach. The sails stay rigged up overnight.
Lots of SUPs doing downwinders to dodge on the way out. Very few kiters ? why bother in this wind. The food is cheap, the beer is cold and the family is happy. Shouldn't really complain.
Be back at Redcliffe soon.
