New here, so be gentle

I'm just getting into SUP after a lot of kayaking, and saw articles on street SUP in a couple of mags. Would love to give it a go, so been reading through these forums about wheels, trucks, bearings, boards, etc.

Being low on funds but high on DIY skills (currently building a SUP), I'd be interested in making a street board.

Are plans/dimensions available anywhere, or is it a matter of just basing a shape on the size of boards out there? Really just need a starting point.

Where do those who have made their boards on here get inspiration, designs, etc?

Couldn't master a skateboard when younger, now getting the urge at 60. Is riding a street SUP as easy as riding my water SUP (9ft)? In other words is it as slow and as controllable when you're learning? Any advice would be appreciated.
