Update on progress with current leaders points board below.
With events planned each month in different locations throughout summer there is still plenty of time to get involved and quickly get to the top of the ladder.
Next event is scheduled for Mooloolaba but is subject to a N/NE
wind (15+knts) , if we cant get a NE the event will switch to a suitable S/SE venue, so stay tuned here and on the Face book page.
Remember part of the event philosophy is that
we only run when its 'windy', which means dates and locations may be flexible to accommodate the wind gods.
The 1Hr format is proving to be a great test of sailors overall skill, tactical awareness, fitness and durability on the water, sailors to need to be able to adapt to the water conditions at the venue and be able to plot the best course that they believe will gain them an edge on overall distance sailed, it of course helps if you can crack a few decent gybes also!

Current 1HR World Record Holder Brad Anderson lead by example in the round 3 event at Cootharaba, with a cracking pace in smooth to choppy waters and showed us all how its done.
If your currently sailing in GPS teams/comps, or just free sailing why not come and test yourself in one of these events and see how you compare to others sailing in exactly the same conditions as yourself on the day.
You may be able to crack 40knt runs on a perfect speed run or sail 100+km's at your 'local' , but lets see if you can put it all together for 1hr on race day, just like Brad did!
Events promote windsurfing, not just to other windsurfers but also the general public and go a long way towards attracting new and or past participants to the sport, and that is what the Freerace series is about.
If the above sounds like a challenge...it is! Get of your screens, stop looking at how great your GPS numbers are or are not on the computer, come and show us in the flesh how good you are!
Who knows you may even win a great prize on the day just for participating!See you at the next event!
