Covid-19
I'd say it might be going exponential. It's a bit hard to tell with the irregular data.
Excellent map from Joh Hopkins here:
gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6That's nearly a 3% death rate : |
It looked like the infection rate was actually dropping off for a few days there, but a few days ago it spiked, such is the quality of the data coming out of China.

It'll be interesting to watch Singapore who are at once super clean, and living in high density.
If Singapore goes I'm heading straight to CostCo.

Is going to Bali currently, reckless?
With the whole COVID-19 / SARS-CoV-2 pandemic happening, does anyone else than me think that it's reckless to go to Bali for a holiday right now?
So many people I know of at work and in social circles are going to Bali this week, next week or have just come back.
On top of that, they are returning straight to work without self-quarantining, even though it's been shown that the virus can be passed on by people who don't have symptoms. For up to 27 days.
Is this just not reckless?
For one thing, going to Bali right now is unnecessarily exposing yourself to a virus that may or may not kill you, CFR (Confirmed Fatality Rate) to be confirmed.
For another, you are potentially exposing the people around you at work when you get back. Socially you can avoid people who've come back from overseas recently, but most of us still need to keep our jobs to survive, so cannot not go to work where the reckless people are potentially spreading the virus.
Exposing yourself to the risk of picking up a potentially deadly virus is one thing and your choice, but the then taking the choice away from other people by going straight back to work, who can then pass it on to their families, is reckless in my book.
It's selfish and reckless and the thing is, most of the people I know who are going to Bali or overseas (for a holiday), don't understand the gravity of the situation, they have no concept of it at all.
Regardless of your feelings for Bali normally, you either like the place or not, what do you think?
