Pointless fences at the beach...
I wonder what the thought process is at Council sometimes...

Lets put a fence in at the beach.
Was there a fence there before - No.
Do we need a fence now - No.
What would be the purpose of the fence - not sure.
Should we put a fence up anyway! - yes!

Have a look at these photos... The sand level at the fence here differs by at least 500-750mm during a year, with the seasons, and with the storms, and surge high tides....

This fence will fall over... I'm going to get some good quality wire cutters to carry in the car. Cut some sections out of this useless fence, so we can use the beach as it was intended, without a fence in the way.

(Below, fence is about 1.5 feet clear of the sand

There's also "The Big Sand Dune" down my way. Almost a tourist attraction on its own. You feel like Rocky Balboa once you climb to the top. There was a well worn path, and people's feet would slowly push sand down the track, then the windy days would slowly push the sand back up the track. The Big Dune was living in beautiful harmony... I remember first climbing up the top with my brother when I was about 7. 30 odd years ago.

The put a small sign up - please refrain from climbing the dune, due to erosion issues. "They" still weren't happy, so "they" thought it was best that they erect a fence in front of the dune... Same problem, sand ebbs and flows, and sections of the fence either have 2 feet clear under-neath, or mounded sand, making it a 1-2 feet fence... Easy-peasy to climb under or over... People still go up the dune.... WHAT'S THE FARKING POINT OF THE FENCE!!!?? (Will get some pics tomorrow).

I'm really impressed with the intelligence of some people!! haha.

OK - Rant Over - I feel better now!
