Mr. Trumble tried the same trick and ended up with his majority slashed too. So what is going on with politics? I recall when Trump got the nod, some punters who chose to be the unofficial flag bearer of the right got all excited. They were beside themselves. Some even made a prediction that from then onward, the right conservatives will rule for a very long time. As a result, the left will be consigned to the naughty corner to sulk.

The terrorist attacks in Britain would, in some experts' predictions, work in the conservatives' favour as "law and order" is the war cry usually works in time of crisis. Yet the opposite has occurred. Are the voters a lot smarter than the politicians give them credit for? Or perhaps Trump's victory actually sent a signal to voters that conservatives are all talks and no walk ?
