Well back from Hawaii and my first downwind race and what a great experience !
Right from the start the ALOHA spirit is amazing everything went according to plan ,from the car rental to the hiring of the Vortice XP ,a big thanks to C4 Waterman Hawaii for orgainsing this part these guys couldn't do enough for me . Even got C4 Team rider Greg Pavao to bring the board back for me as they where closed on Monday for there Labor Day.
This race is from Waimea Bay to Haleiwa on the North Shore of Ohau it's a 5mile race (8k) ,for me this is a good start to getting the feel of what it's all about . The race was won by one of the Napoleon family members in around the 38minute mark I finished 76th in a time 56min: 54 sec out of 140 sup's ,there was also 78 paddleboarders for there biggest event turn in there 20yr history of 218 paddlers.
Not knowing what to expect ,I'm really stoked with this result and still can't get the smiles off my face.
I'll be back next yr for sure , if anyone is interested in going to Hawaii try and work it around one of there races the experience is priceless
