Armstrong HS 1050
I'm probably a bit behind the times here ( HS 1050 has been out for a while ) but thought I would pass on my experience with this wing.
Dont know where to start really , but what an amazing weapon of a wing. It's so fast, accelerates really quickly and turns on dime, and If that's not enough you can pump back out and connect , which totally surprised me cause I thought it would be too small for me to pump. The the other surprise was how well it goes even in smaller surf (2ft) and great glide which I wasn't expecting either.
You do have to work it in the smaller stuff ( lots of turns ,stay high etc ) but it's so efficient that if you keep it moving it's incredible what it can do.
I was really just expecting to use it for larger waves and tow surfing , but I am totally blown away by its overall performance especially in the smaller waves .
Ive had it out in head high waves so far and haven't even looked like reaching its limits so will be interesting to tow surf when we get some decent swell to see what it can handle.
Sky Rama said just get it you won't ride anything else, I know what he means now ,even though I think there is times where the other wings are more suited.( mushy wind swell , go the 1550 or 1750 then)
Its not a learners wing my setup is 1050/72/60/232 +1 which is plenty performance for me right now , and don't think I would need to ever go as far as Sky on 1050/60/60/212 +1 Which would be a handful I recon.
There seems to be a fair overlap with the Armstrong wings each being able to reach into the next ones territory a fair way ,which makes it hard to decide which wing to take out on a certain day ,and also which one to buy.
Sorry for the frothy rave but just when you think this sport can't get any better it just does !
