So I did a rough estimation of listed players in the AFL in 2017.

There are 18 Teams with more than 40 listed players in each which adds up to over 720 listed AFL players.

There is lots of debate about the percentage of the population that identify as gay. Seems to range anywhere from between 2% to 10% depending on what you want to believe.

So out of all those players - why have NONE of them, for the last 100 years, come out and said - I am a gay footy player?
