LANDSAIL AUSTRALIA CONQUERS COOPER'S CREEK
Landsail Australia is pleased to inform land yachtees that despite dire predictions that the Dreaded Cooper's Creek Crossing could never be achieved by wind power alone because of winding road and trees, it turns out that this 4km stretch on the Birdsville Track was fairly easily sailed by The Scream and it's designer/builder John Williams aka Willy. In fact, The Scream conquered every hill it encountered—albeit very slowly at times—and could sail up a road into a 45 degree headwind (don't ask me how—I'm the writer, not the sailor, but ah seen it with ma own durned eyes). Our experiences so far only increase our admiration for 'Mad Max' Tunbridge, and our envy because of the wind he must have had to sail the Birdsville Track in less than 3 days. The wind has not been kind to us. I think I've finally sorted out all the landsailaustralia.com website problems—registered with Domain Registration Services and hosted by Weebly is a bad combo—and you can tootle on over there tomorrow for blogs (they are scrambled, but numbered in the headings) and pics and vids.
