The FreeRace is a fun GPS event where sailors are given a start time (UPS+10)and have one hour from that (you can be out sailing anytime before that, but only from that time will be counted) time to just get out and sail as hard as they like within a defined area, usually approximately 4 square km in area (wear a time piece). This allows sailors to sail 'their own' race without the hassle of using gybe markers. Gps's are used to track the sailor and calculate their average speed, or distance travelled during the prescribed one hour time frame.

Approved GPS's for these events are GT31 and GW60 (others may be considered by request before Friday)). There a few GPS's that members have kindly offered to lend out for the event if you do not have a device. If you wish to borrow one of these, please send me a personal message via seabreeze to secure your loan for the day.

It is law to wear a buoyancy vest (life jacket) in Tasmanian waterways, it is up to competitors to use their common sense and abide by these laws where possible or as required due to location and type of waterway.

Any questions please post here or send me a p.m.

Cheers

Kaleb
