I only got to try it once as it was my mates setup and he doesn't downwind or tow and he wanted to see how I would go on it. Congrats on an amazing design and build it's definitely a super high quality board and the jet and controls are so simple and easy to use as well as being fully adjustable. I really like the hands free operation nothing else like it really.

Thanks Kobo. Yep best to ride in the waves first until you get better at the timing. Then poeple chip away at downwind. What I can catch now downwinding to my first attempt is night and day.

I rode the 4'2 board with the 707 flux. The board is fantastic and the mast is stiff and the foil is fast and turns well. The 707 pumps well with speed ,but it definitely has a high stall speed and would not be easy in smaller surf unless you're Mr Bennett's. I also demoed the 5'6 board with the jet drive with a view to DW prone it in 15 kns. It just didn't have the thrust to get you going in those conditions, I did manage to get a start over a shallow reef and then DW from there , but no go in the open ocean for starts, which I would be able to do with a paddle SUP. I think it would be possibly to achieve a start in nuking conditions.

I was surprised to see the front wing connection is taper slide on with 2 screws and nothing else but it seemed stiff enough.

Were you towing though or sup or proning under your own power. Hilly is using it on the tow boogie and always with decent serious power in the waves down there ?

Prone on the 5'6 jet in 15kns DW conditions and I couldn't get going. For reference I prone surf on a 4'5 board average 3 times a week,and would consider myself intermediate to advanced at popping up.I I got towed in the same conditions on the 4'2 with 707 flux so definitely underpowered.

For downwinding if you were using the 707 with the AMPJet in 15know I am not suppried you were underdone. I would be on the 1010 in 15knots. If it is boming you can get the 707 up but not 15knt downwind.

I was using the 5'6 and 1300 foil for downwind and couldn't get going in the open ocean @15kns ( which I would paddling up my SUP) I did get going over some shallow reef and the setup worked well to downwind once up and felt really balanced and pumped well and I hardly noticed the weight of the jet drive. I feel the the jet drive for me would be great on river bars etc where the waves stand up but don't break enough to paddle onto. I was towed up on the 4'2 with the 707 n the same conditions to try and DW but it was too hard work and I was underdone. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to surf the 4'2 707 but obviously from others comments it goes well there.I'm 80kg and usually surf the Armstrong 680HA.

Keep at it Kobo. It is definitely a timing thing. I started on the 5'8 then the 5'0 and now mostly on the 4'6 for downwinding. Make sure you have the accel set to 1 and boost coming down the back into the trough with a couple of hard paddles then the wave behind should get you going.
