Memories of Dave from the Alva Beach days....Me, a novice windsurfer and here is this guy throwing forward loops in the NQ chop and sailing at seemingly impossible speeds for us mortals. He would work the crushing season in the lab, then disappear to WA for summer. He competed in WA wave and slalom events as a dark horse and got noticed enough to get sponsorship from the first incarnation of Windtech , bringing a bunch of boards back with him each year.
I left the Burdekin in 1995 and lost touch until we crossed paths in the GPSTC scene and later as a regular at Burrum with Mirena.
He had an unshakeable love for the sport and its people, right to the very end. Mirena... such sad news but I will carry happy memories of Dave for a long time... Troy
