I spent 4 months last year in Fiji, mostly on the southern coast of Viti Levu (main island) and these are the places I wingfoiled:

1) Pacific Harbour, at the Pearl Resort beach to be exact. Had great sessions there. No waves but nice bumps that formed.

2) Wailoaloa beach, right opposite of the runway at Nadi airport .. check in at the Ramada hotel and go winging .. I had two great sessions there. No waves as your inside the huge reef, but nice bumps. Weather and water are super warm so it's a treat! Stay clear of the water plane port !! 😀

3) Maui Bay, closer to Sigatoka. The spot is very small. In general the Coral Coast offers little opportunity for wingfoil, unless you have a 40 cm mast at high tide. The Sigatoka River mouth you mention is part of the Sigatoka Dunes Natural Park. Shorebreak looked massive. The place is deserted. Needs some back up support. I think there is a nearby surf operator.

Drone footage here

Other options.
North: You can go to the north side of the island but will cost you half a day to get there plus Fijian taxi costs especially right now are through the roof.
Namuto.. the paradise only in reach for the rich 😂😂 Actually the guys at Fiji Surf can boat you up to Tavarua and Namuto and you can play there. Will cost a couple of 100 USD. I had arranged the boat but no wind.
Ferry out: it's easy to take your gear onto the boats that go every days to the smaller islands. We were for a week at Plantation Island from where you can reach Namuto too. Is just there was no wind for me.

If you're going to stay a week:
- with noise and not so nice beach, choose Wailoaloa - but with daily access to the nearby marina (Denarau) that has dozens of daily boats to smaller islands.
- no noise and nice beach (but clear coral coast waters) go to Pacific Harbour
- Maui Bay for quiet, lots of clear coral coast waters, snorkling etc, and if the wind falls right then a session at the small Maui Bay spot.
Hit up the guys at www.instagram.com/fijisurfco/ first to get info on a boat for the day, they operate near Denarau Port. I think that guys like Berndt Roediger link up with FSC to get their cloud break juice. Namuto is not only for the rich

Does the board loose pressure? Or is this a case of deck pad delamination? If it's the latter then injecting glue could work.

*Disclaimer: produced with Claude by feeding the board page url's. Apologies.. didn't have time to fully double check* If anyone sees an error let me know. The 92L vs 88L data looks correct (have the K1 92 L myself)

The board is up on their website described as "significantly thinner" yet they don't publish the thickness specs?

It looks thin to me

I meant heel side one handed. Is there any benefit / point?

Foot switching isn't a problem. I always switch back to heel side

Beginners question: is it easier/better to get on foil one or two-handed (hands on the bar)?

Are there benefits to a one handed launch? Using free arm to counter balance (the chop when slightly veering downwind and wobbly board). One handed is harder pumping though.

I'm trying to figure out how cut resistant fabric helps. Sure - I understand the "slice" protection, but my experience is from impact cuts. I wear a 4/3 wetsuit for all sessions. I recently had a close encounter with my foil in shorebreak. The mast hit my forearm really hard. No cut in the wetsuit, but a nasty gash in my arm. If a wetsuit didn't help, how would a rash guard-thin cut fabric protect me?

Cut proof material guarantees non cutting of the material... not of the arm under the material.

We need to test dummy footage before this goes into myth territory. Wear this material around a watermelon and have a high aspect foil slash or stab it.

Yesterday a first proper flight with the new North Rover 5m. When up flying on foil it can go nicely upwind. Feels like an unstoppable engine.

Getting it up in the air .. is a pain so far. Doable but not without effort. I'm so used to the pocket rockets (4.2m and em) being so easy to get off the water and hovering overhead almost stationary.

Yesterday switched from the Rover to PR.. yes 5m to 4.2m, but the feel was so different.

The PR bar is so much more integrated with the bridles so that every mm adjustment translates into the canopy. I feel the Rover has lots of positives 'bar' the bar design.

Canopy material feels different too. The PR is less sticking to water.. and almost water repellent so that when it comes out of the water it's it just releases.

Things brings me to another design feature .. PR has two huge drainage holes on the wingtips. Quite effective in water to air launch. With Rover you wait and watch for the water to bucket out of the tip.

I havent tried a 5m PR but guessing the real "PR DNA" is also its largest size.

As I'm sure you're all aware everyday in WA is basically like a scene out of the acclaimed documentary Sharknado. The risks have become so high that you don't even have to go out on the water to be at risk. You're in imminent danger even just standing next to a river or pond or any body of water.
Personally I have decided to be proactive and will be using Shark deterrent devices basically at all times. What I'm looking at doing is using some of these FCS shark banz pods

Apparently they work a lot better if you use multiple pods at once. I was thinking of actually getting a whole bunch of them and stringing them together. I searched online for images of how to do it and found this particular image which gave me some good ideas.

Now I just wonder if anyone has any suggestions as to how I can mount these, Ideally on my body, so that I can have maximum protection at all times??

That looks more like a 'human deterrent' to me .. !

What's going on at Unifoil and why is everything being advertised at super low prices? Is this a fake shop? uni-foil.com

Or is the brand in trouble? I remember a setup like this going for 2000+ eur.. maybe 2200 or 2400. Weird? Strange? Suspicious?

Keen to know owners and riders' experiences of the new North Sonar. They arrived relatively late to the foiling scene. The first Sonar was a collab with Delta foils and some bits looked a bit outdated. However the new range looks more like it..

New, being the 2022-2023 North Sonar with the:
- new stabilizers s210, s270 etc.. and not s01, s02
- new HA and MA front wings.

I found these reviews by Tucker from Mackite and Gunnar, but they could be biased because one is selling them, and the other is a team rider.

I am particularly interested in the new HA1250 and HA1450 fw's for wingfoil. Also is the carbon mast as good as they say? How does it compare to others? What league are they in? Armstrong? Axis?

Their prices are good and North does have good quality standards. Every wing comes with covers, also the carbon mast. The bag the foil comes with looks like a big bonus:

So what's the verdict on the North Sonar?
